Brick Lane Curry House 11/8/09 Greenwich Village, New York City

Photobucket

Friends and myself saw a segment on "Man Vs. Food" concerning THE WORLDS HOTTEST CURRY so we had to try it out, I went for the milder Chicken Bhuna Curry but my friend Chris tackled the Phaal Curry which was The HOT Curry in question, he finished it too, I had a wee taste and Boy was It Spicy. Nice atmosphere, good Wait staff but just a little pricy (17 for Curry) considering 2 can eat for 25 bucks on the sixth street Little India strip. Delicious food though it was, For appetizers we had Meat Samosa's and Vegetable Pakora's complimented by Pints of Kingfisher Beer and Mango Lassi's not to mention the Delicious Tap Water.

Photobucket

Always a Favorite, Mulligatawny Soup. I tend to prefer the Tomato based Red Soup but this was Tasty, Warm & Lentilly. Nice Doily Too.

Theres always Room for a Cannoli, these being from the Famous Veniero's Pastry & Bake Shoppe but not tonight, I was stuffed until 4 a.m. at least. OK I had one (half chocolate, half plain)

Facebook Quizzes OR How To Squander Time

Photobucket

Unemployed? Distracted Easily? The Hassock's On Fire?

STILL, Better than a migraine. Bah Dum Bum!!!

One theorem is that I'm suffering from V.G.M. (Virgin Megastore Withdrawal) and another is that I have M.I.M.P. (Music Is My Passion) disorder (not to be confused with the dude wearing the purple fedora in the caddy down the street) To blame for my obsession with answering Music trivia as correctly as possible and as quickly as possible.

I have learned a lot, I have cursed at my computer a lot, I have snacked a lot but one thing stands.

I'M LOVING THE MUSIC QUIZZES!!! TAKING THEM AND MAKING THEM.

Wait!!!, I Have to Go Back To Work!!!

Photobucket

Our return engagement at Rembrandt's went very well Indeed. 'Twas a festive occasion as we celebrated Mike and Kristine's birthdays with Rockin' 80s tunes,Flowing Booze at the bar and some Killer Red Velvet Cake courtesy of Kristine's mom. We also took some props to this gig on their maiden voyage to enhance the kitsch and fun of it all and there was much rejoicing.

Great Jones - 10/4/09 New York City

Photobucket

Scrumptious and Filling Louisiana Cajun Style Cookin' located right on the East Side at Great Jones (Ironically on Great Jones street) left me Immobile yet quite happy and very stuffed indeed. Twas almost Impossible to pick from the limited yet widely varied Menu but a man's gotta be a Foodie Always. I entered aiming (in my minds tummy) for Chicken Fried Steak firstly with Jambalaya/Gumbo as my second choice. No C.F.S. sooooo...

Photobucket

Salad - Red Cabbage, Greens, Shredded Carrots, Chick Pea's in a Mysterious Cream Sauce.

Photobucket

Fried Oysters for Appetizer.

Photobucket

She may not be pretty now folks but she was somebody's baby once.

{Stew and Rice Dishes are amongst the hardest to help "Look Sexy" in Food pics, Judge with your Palate Wise Ones.}

Poorman's Jambalaya/Salad/Cornbread ($13.95) consisting of Rice,Sauce,Spices,Sausage and Pulled Pork was mouth watering and looks do deceive, This plate may look a wee bit teeny weeny polka dot bikini but its a Mitzi Dupree Believe You, Me.

I Was too busy shoveling this down to take note of every Ingredient and the subdued lighting made it impossible to tell at all (Keep It Dark folks I'm Eating!!!) I'm sure there were tons of Ingredients but there was a reason I had to use a flash in these pics (Mosquitoes be aware, they will never see you coming) However dimliness makes for a good Eating atmosphere.
(HINT) - Dont be overly generous with the green Tabasco Sauce unless you want to BE A VOLCANO!!!

A Little Jalapeno cornbread on one side, A Stout Ale on the other. LOOK OUT!!!

My Main course was Delicious and Very filling, I'm comin' back!!!

Photobucket

There's always room for dessert and Key Lime Pie always fits the jacket. Delicious and served with a Dollop of Whipping Cream.

Poskapalooza - Hank's Saloon 9/26/09 Brooklyn, New York

Photobucket

John the Bass Player posed the question "Can Franklin get through three sets with three different bands?" and the answer is a resounding YES. We had a great room full of love and friends, always a blast when you know just about everyone in the place.

Photobucket

The Joe Franklins opened the evening with a loose set of original material and covers of "Thats Alright Mama", "Crazy Arms" and "Sitting on top of the world". Scott Cornwell provided blistering slide guitar to our tunes and Steve Wortman donated some tasteful harp work for a few numbers. Check out their band with Joe at myspace.com/acousticonset.

Photobucket

Joe preaching to the converted.

Photobucket

Baby Daddy delivered like they always do with a tight set of original material and twin lead guitar attack only to surprise me with an encore of "Whipping Post" (I peeked at their setlist prior to their showcase) and it was a pleasure reuniting with my Becker Brother Joe after eighteen years apart. He was a great drummer then, Hes an amazing drummer now.

Speedo closed the show with a tight and funky set of Blues tunes, I was so transfixed that I didnt take any pictures and my pint languished sitting on the bar. A real bunch of top notch players and I could only be proud knowing three of them personally.

Franklin made it through the evening with style and grace and with the fun we all had and a moniker like Poskapalooza lets hope we do one every year.

Prosciutta Ball Playground

Photobucket

Whomever said "No two Prosciutta Ball's are created alike" was a very wise person indeed as you can see from the photo they certainly vary in size but the differences dont stop there neither. The Ingredients and taste also bare a wide variance, heres a brief summary of whats inside.

Frank & Sal's - Basically a Rice Ball with Diced Prosciutta and a hint of Ricotta (50 cents apiece) perhaps what grandma would make. Tasty enough but its a Rice Ball.

Pastosa - Oh Deer, these are Delicious and what I have been seeking on my Prosciutta Ball Sojourn this past weekend. The perfect balance of Prosciutta and Cheese. I'm assuming its Mozzarella but might be wrong ($6.49 per pound, I got 9 for $3.80)

Food Dynasty - Mainly a whole lotta Ricotta but an improvement over the Rice Ball that I didnt expect a few days earlier (a buck and a half).

Another Genoa Salami based Dish of Yore comes to mind. Genoa and Cream Cheese on a Bagel (in this case its an Sesame Seed Bagel) This is the poor man's version of the mythical "Prosciutto Ball Cream Cheese Bagel" but I have not been able to procure the proper Prosciutto Ball as of yet in this latest sojourn.

"Never Ever Give Up Porkmeisters!!!" as Genoa Geoff has been known to exclaim.

White Wedding - The Riviera 9/12/09 Long Island, New York

Photobucket

Kudos to our newest dynamic member Spicoli for learning 18 songs in a record 3 weeks and coming out to perform with us at the Riviera for a private event, private event also entails very little photo documentation of a gig since that would just be unprofessional and why would I want a bunch of photos of people I dont know taking up space in my camera in any case.

So we have a few of the band setting up the gear.

We did have the pleasure of performing two sets and witnessed Almost Cher (www.almostcher.com) entertaining the crowd which we've been looking forward to for a couple of weeks now.

A Very nice room, Decent Sized Drinks and some Antipasto was had by all.

There were Vultures Too

Photobucket

(L to R) Doc Brown, Billie Jean, Animal, Almost Cher, Diamond Dave, Darling Nikki, Spicoli

Remakes Of Remakes - The BLOB

Photobucket

1958 gave us Explorer 1,British parking meters,Steve McQueen and The Blob (working title - The Glob That Girdled The World) and Science Fiction has never been the same. We also learned not to go poking sticks into meteorites recently landed in your backyard and to always keep some CO2 handy. Burt Bacharach and Hal David graced us with one of the coolest theme songs ever and Jack H. Harris produced.

Photobucket

Fourteen years later we were treated to a fun sequel (BEWARE! THE BLOB) directed by Larry Hagman with cool cameos from Dick Van Patten,Cindy Williams,Shelley Berman,Burgess Meredith and of course Larry Hagman. Amidst all of the Zany characters The Blob still retained its gelatinous creepiness. Jack H. Harris produced

Photobucket

Yet another remake came our way in 1988 with a much faster and somewhat larger Blob but this time they decided to make our monster a product of governmental germ warfare gone awry, and what a SNAFU. Jack H. Harris produced

Photobucket

Come 2009 and news of a Rob Zombie remake entitled B.L.O.B. is very welcome indeed. Mr. Zombie has a true love of the genre and hopefully will do us proud. I do have some concerns over his decision to change the design (Roland/Emmerich's Godzilla looms large) but agree with him completely and wait with Baited,Blobby Breath. Jack H. Harris will produce.

Quote from Rob Zombie "I’d been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space. I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is, I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to. Even more than 'Halloween', where I had to deal with accepted iconic characters like Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. 'The Blob' is more concept than specific storyline with characters, so I can go nuts with it. My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing ... I have a totally different take, one that’s pretty dark."

Dont Eat The Brown Acid - WOODSTOCK/The Museum At Bethel Woods 9/4/09 Bethel, New York

Photobucket

Worth seeing this museum just for the Beautiful landscape its perched upon, The Museum at Bethel Woods is tastefully organized and classily memorializes the events of that weekend in August 1969 when we felt that the youth shall rule the world and all negativity vanquished in the honor of good and right (sounds kinda cool by me) when 400,000 plus gathered on this sacred ground to experience 3 days of Peace and Music. Surely a milestone in humanity's history and never to be repeated again thus earning a place in the record books, deservedly welcome as a monument (its a field folks) and something very well worth a museumspace.

My critiques are small a la The Beatles play a bit heavy (Yes I Know THEY WERE The 60s) role in the exhibit but did not perform at the Woodstock Festival as well as Sam Cooke,The Beach Boys and The Supremes who were also at least not on the Woodstock stage itself but I suppose we must put these things (The 60s) in perspective. The exhibits are mostly (98%) Replicas, seeing a piece of the fence was nice but the (Lost and Found as in new friends/people separated) notes left behind amidst the rubbish were very fascinating but only a few seem to have survived. The Magic Bus etc. were all mockups (nicely done though)

Photobucket

Was on the cusp of snapping a "Lennon Exhibit" pic when "C" shushed me with a wristslap (hence Le bluriness). No Pics allowed you see.
