White Wedding - Rippers 6/2/12 Rockaway Beach/Queens, New York

Photobucket

Tonight Rob was dancing on the tables which is not an uncommon sight during our shows but we also had Dave leaping off the seating for "finale/Townshend" effect and an audience member up on the table just friggin' dancing on their own volition.

The crowd was into it and so was the band during this windyish outdoor performance. I also enjoyed the onlookers/non-bar patrons outside the perimeter myself who were just enjoying the novelty of amplified music along 86 Shorefront Parkway. so it was a nice outdoors show overlooking the beach that leads into the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean Real Vast Like.

Premiered tonight was "Rockaway Beach" (full band version*) which we wuz learned for this occasion.

Diana whipping the crowd into a Nix frenzy.

a few days after this show I was in the subway refilling my Metrocard and this conversation took place between the token booth clerk and myself.

me: 10 dollars on this card please.
token booth clerk: hey man I've seen you around, are you part of the rock scene ?
me: yes, I'm in a few bands, maybe White Wedding the 80s tribute band
token booth clerk: nah man not that far back

I give him the thumbs up and on my way.

Eric The Brave brandishes his Ibanez (sounds like a dirty limerick doesn't it ?)

Photobucket

Rob raises baby squid & sea monkeys as a hobby and would like to help the world to sing in perfect harmony.

After-show Diana asked us to watch her shoes and went sauntering onto the beach as Jamie, Eric and myself enjoyed the view & refreshments from the boardwalk (a few stiff Rum & Coke's) whilst conversing about everything from grapefruit's to gorgonzola.

Eric searched for Diana amongst the moonlit horizon that the deep blue jeweled beach offered him.

Diana returned after a spell with a few balloons that she had adopted, mind you we (or even Rod Serling) have not a clue where they came from but they are friendly, cuddly, housebroken and spayed.

We ended the show with a medley of Ramones tunes consisting of "Rockaway Beach/Blitzkrieg Bop/I Wanna Be Sedated" and encored our encore with Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

* - White Wedding did play an improv version of "Rockaway Beach" at Thai Rock but it was only half the band improvising (Rob, Spike and Paul Little on guitar)

White Wedding - Brooklyn Bowl 1/23/12 Brooklyn,New York

Photobucket

Tonight was our third return performance/engagement at the spacious and lovely Brooklyn Bowl at 61 Wythe Avenue and always a pleasure to appear at.

THE PROS - Full Backline (sans guitars, keys and cymbals), We are performing at the Brooklyn Bowl which is probably Brooklyn's finest room, aside from a certain bartender (dare I call him anything else) the Brooklyn Bowl has an accommodating and pleasant staff from top to bottom, Proper stage, Proper Green Room, Excellent on-stage monitors/mixes, complimentary hot water for my Theraflu.

THE CONS - I forgot Nancy's wigs which were newly transferred to my living room inside my bass drum/no bass drum/no wigs. This is being remedied tomorrow and we are keeping all the costumes together, Our Drummer (me) is weak and sick with a coldflucough, when ordering a drink a hipster member of the wait staff reminded me that "Gratuities arent included with the drink ticket" the nerve of him as I am working too (to keep people from leaving!!! hence less tips), I would have set his beard on fire but I quit smoking so my Zippo was back home in the drawer.

Photobucket

We perform our newest rendition of Barry Manilow's "Copacabana", OK I Joke, Really. J.C. is our underrated singer, This man can sing.

Photobucket

BONO: A Space Oddysey.

Rob does a great job (and many fan photos are taken as well, usually mid-performance).

Photobucket

One of the finest singers I have worked with, Nancy - signed spike.

Photobucket

Nancy points Dave in the direction of the nearest Indian restaurant but we needed him at the moment.

Photobucket

Dave hands off the 99th Red Balloon, a first for the band.

Photobucket

I had to hoof it (via car service) to the Bowl with gig bag, cymbal bag and bad cold (a common health deficit) so lazily decided to utilize the in house snare drum as opposed to bringing my beloved maple DW snare and I was not disappointed. a wee bit high pitched but then again I didn't attempt to retune it. The Tama Starclassic is my second favorite snare drum on the market (I still haven't tried a Gretsch however) so it was fun all around and lighter to carry as well since I couldn't leave with it and bringing it into the venue would certainly be defying the laws of physics as are currently known.

Photobucket

Nachos - I nursed these in the green room throughout the evening and as far as I can tell the toppings were Refried Beans, Beef (Ground ?), Monterey Jack Cheese AND Corn (sending it over the top). ooo, I see some red peppers I think as well. Either way no explanation needed and no time to decipher, this is Nosh Food.

The Simple Surprise And Coolnessity Of Being Posted On The Internet By People You Dont Know

Photobucket

Turned out that Louie Prima's Drummer's Daughter saw a pic of me on The Facebook which she must have liked and got in touch with me to post on her Drummer's Collective page here. Of course I obliged and am saving the screen captures here for posterity. Forgive my Narcissism.

Facebook Quizzes OR How To Squander Time

Photobucket

Unemployed? Distracted Easily? The Hassock's On Fire?

STILL, Better than a migraine. Bah Dum Bum!!!

One theorem is that I'm suffering from V.G.M. (Virgin Megastore Withdrawal) and another is that I have M.I.M.P. (Music Is My Passion) disorder (not to be confused with the dude wearing the purple fedora in the caddy down the street) To blame for my obsession with answering Music trivia as correctly as possible and as quickly as possible.

I have learned a lot, I have cursed at my computer a lot, I have snacked a lot but one thing stands.

I'M LOVING THE MUSIC QUIZZES!!! TAKING THEM AND MAKING THEM.

Wait!!!, I Have to Go Back To Work!!!
